Admission Requirements

General Requirements of Admission:

  1. Applicants must hold a secondary school certificate or its equivalent with a minimum cumulative GPA of 70%
  2. Applicants must have received the secondary school certificate or its equivalent within two previous years.
  3. Applicants must take the aptitude test, personal interviews, or any other forms of assessment conducted by UOB (if applicable).
  4. Applicants must not be enrolled in any other higher education institution in case of admission to UOB.
  5. Students who have graduated or have been expelled from UOB are not allowed to reregister in the same program.
  6. Admission applies only to the semester for which the student has been admitted.
  7. Applicants must be physically fit.
  8. Applicants must be of good conduct.
  9. Applicants must fulfill other requirements set by competent bodies.

Important Instructions:

  1. The selection and order of programmes should correspond with the type of general secondary school certificate (literature, science, commercial, industry, unified tracks) and colleges allocated to each of them.
  2. Admission to academic programs is granted a competitive basis, based on the following criteria:
    • Fulfillment of admission requirements
    • Capacity of academic programs
  3. All documents attached with the application are the property of the University of Bahrain and the applicant may not claim them, have them transferred, or obtain copies.
  4. It is also an admission requirement that students pass the tests and/or interviews conducted by colleges, in accordance with admission requirements in some programs (if applicable).
  5. Students should have a good command of language of institution they wish to enroll in.
  6. Kindly visit the University of Bahrain website  to check the admission requirement, view detailed study plans, and all academic programs offered this year along with their mediums of instruction.
Exemption From Orientation Program

To be exempted from the one-semester orientation program you need to fulfill one of the following conditions:

  • Achieve a 90% or higher average grade in the General Secondary School Certificate.
  • Achieve an English language grade of 90% or higher in the General Secondary School.
  • Obtain a minimum score of 500 in TOEFL or 5.5 in IELTS.
Important Notes
  1. The date for announcing admission results will be posted on the university website and the official social media accounts of the University of Bahrain (uobedubh). Admission results will be published on the Student Information System website .
  2. The admission of the students is being done only one time in the first semester of each academic year.
  3. Admission applies only to the semester for which the student has been admitted.

UOB Bookstore

Instructions for all Colleges students before purchasing (Online):

  1. The student must have completed the tuition fees payment and completed the registration process of the courses.
  2. The student should be familiar with the study plan for his major and the required books.
  3. The student should refer to the course plan he received from the subject teacher to determine the book before purchasing it.
  4. The student must ensure that the book intended to be purchased has not been previously purchased for other (Prerequisite) courses.
  5. In case the required book for a particular subject is not found online, the course might not require a book, or the book is currently unavailable.
  6. There will be an increase in the book price if the student wishes to purchase an additional copy. The payment must be in cash at the bookstore center.
  7. The student who have completed the purchase of the book must wait for an SMS notification from the bookstore, specifying the date and time of collection
  8. The student must review the receipt of the purchased books and match it with the books received before leaving the bookstore center.
  9. No refunds will be accepted for the pre-approved books except under the following conditions: (Note: Only if the books or the annex to the book "Access Code" were not opened or used.)
    • Delete the subject
    • Cancel the subject
    • Compulsory withdrawal
  10. There is a group of text books for each course of these courses; students are required to purchase the full set (Engl 135-Engl 215- Engl235- Engl331- Engl 334- Engl 336 – Engl 412- Engl415- Engl 416- Engl 435- Engl 436- Pham435).   

Sponsored Students:  

  1. Sponsored students must also purchase books during the first week of the course so that the university is able to request the sponsors for a refund.
  2. Sponsored students with book fees coverage must buy books as recorded in their schedules (without payment) and present the purchase receipt after receiving an SMS notification from the bookstore to collect their books on time.
  3.  Sponsorship which does not include the book fees (scholarship students from the Ministry of Education or the General Command of Defense or UOB employees children and some sponsored students) must pay from their own account, either through the payment service on the eGovernment National Portal or direct payment at the bookstore.
