Radio Amateurs License Request

This service is provided by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, Wireless licensing, Frequencies & Monitoring Directorate (WLFMD) to Individuals, Businesses, Governmental Entities and NGOs requesting to obtain a Wireless Amateurs License which contains wireless communication services used by the amateur for self-training, communication with others or for a technical interest.

   Required Documents

  1. Official letter addressed to the Directorate stating the request of obtaining Wireless Amateurs License
  2. Copy of the identity card or passport
  3. Copy of the residency certificate in Kingdom of Bahrain valid for a period not less than six months if the applicant is a foreigner
  4. Copy of any wireless amateur certificates granted previously other countries
  5. The device name, manufacturer, model in case of imported device, with the specifications of the required device (if required)
  6. Copy of the Declaration of Conformity certificate (DoC)
  7. The authorized local company or organization name (if any)

   Important notes

  • Others:
  • The licensee should obtain a license from the competent entities when creating or constructing or use of a tower of amateur radio station, where the Directorate license does not include it.
  • The radio amateur should not operate or use wireless equipment of any type, or establish it in any way, or own it or possess it within the Kingdom grounds’ or within its territorial waters or airspace unless he has obtained a license from the Directorate.
  • Radio Amateur License is granted for a period of renewal/ issuance of the license to the end of the same year if it has not been modified in writing by the Directorate, and the license that has not been renewed for a period of 3 years from the expiration date will be considered canceled and the licensee should submit all the registered devices.
  • In case of a certificate / certificates granted previously by another country, the applicant does not have to take the test.
