Bahrain’s Digital Economy

Bahrain is committed to becoming the leading digital economy in the region. To achieve this goal, the government has implemented a number of initiatives and projects to support the growth of the digital sector. In 2020, Bahrain was ranked 4th in the Arab Digital Economy Report, 3rd among Arab states and 40th globally in the 2021 “Heritage” index of economic freedom, and it is now the leading country in the region in financial technology (FinTech). Bahrain is also ranked 25th globally in the World Competitiveness Ranking issued by the Institute for Management Development (IMD).

These rankings are a testament to the success of Bahrain's digital transformation strategy. The government's initiatives have created a favourable environment for businesses to operate in and have helped attract foreign investment and talent. As a result, Bahrain is now a hub for digital businesses and innovation.
