Online material assessment service (eMAS) request

This service is provided by the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning to private sector establishments requesting the Ministry's approval for materials to be used in public projects supervised by the Ministry.

Required Attachments

  • Commercial Registration (for the supplier or factory if it is located in Bahrain)
  • Details of the materials to be evaluated with all relevant local factory and supplier documents

  • Material/product evaluation: 675 BD
  • Factory/supplier/testing laboratory evaluation: 375 BD
  • Initial application fee: 25 BD

Service Processes

  • The applicant: submit an application to send materials via the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning website, electronically attaching the required documents and information
  • Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning: Review the application and ensure that the required documents and information are completed
  • Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning: If the required documents and information have not all been submitted, an official letter will be sent to the applicant to complete the missing documents and information
  • The applicant is given 3 weeks to submit the missing documents and information before the application is rejected
  • Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning: If all the required documents and information have been submitted, the applicant will be contacted by phone to set a specific date for the field visit or to obtain a sample of materials for evaluation
  • Applicant: Provide the Ministry with a sample of materials for evaluation
  • Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning: Carry out the necessary examinations and analyses of the sample
  • If the result is negative, an official letter is issued containing the reasons for rejection.
  • Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning: If the result is positive, a certificate of materials compliance is sent to the applicant by email
  • The name of the establishment and the materials are displayed in the “Pre-Qualification List For Materials” on Ministry of Works website
